I’m Dr Sophie Mayhew. I’m a registered and professionally regulated Consultant Clinical Psychologist.With over 20 years of experience, I’m here to listen and help.
Do you feel tired of your self criticism? Does it bring you down or create worry? I can help you develop a different relationship with yourself. One that will help you move forward in life with courage, wisdom and warmth.
I have over 25 years of experience as a psychologist, 22 of these in the NHS working with Adults with complex and severe mental health problems. I currently work in my own practice with adults over 18. I specialise in Compassion Focused Therapy which is helpful for a wide range of difficulties including low mood, anxiety & self criticism
Making the first step in seeking help can be daunting. I offer a no obligation initial consultation so we can meet each other, discuss your difficulties and explore how I can help. It’s your space to ask me questions too. Meet me online at a time convenient to you in the comfort of your own home.

Q What is your fee?

Therapy - a 50 minute psychology therapy session is 120
Consultation - a 90 minute psychology assessment session is 215

Q Do you accept health insurance?

Yes. I accept referrals from AXA, AVIVA and BUPA

Q How can I book an appointment?

Q Do you work with children?

I work only with adults from the age of 18.

Q Do you offer face to face appointments?

At present I offer remote (online) appointments only using video conferencing (Zoom) and we can guide you through this if your unfamiliar with using zoom. We may return to face to face in the future.

Q Is my information private?

Yes. Please see our confidentiality page on our website for more information. You can also find our GDPR policy on confidentiality and security of information on our website. Information is not shared with anyone, unless you tell us of significant and imminent risks where we we need to share certain information with your GP for example to keep you or others safe.

Q Are you professionally regulated and insured?

Yes. I am regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have professional indemnity insurance.

Q Are you fully qualified?

Yes. I have a 6 years of degree level training, to doctoral level as a Clinical Psychologist
